New Disc Golf course in Summerland, BC
Yesterday I played my first round at the new disc golf course in Summerland, BC. There are no baskets in yet, only tonals, and so far only the first 9 holes are playable. But it’s really clear this property is perfect for disc golf. I can’t wait for better weather and for the teepads and baskets to be installed!
Congrats to Keremeos disc golf designer Dion Eden of All-Accessible Disc Golf for getting this project approved with the Summerland city council and for the great progress so far. I could see big tournaments being held at this course in the near future.
I went back and played it again today with Cheryl and a couple other friends. So far I’ve played it with 4 other people, and we all agree the course is great. There’s no much potential there: awesome terrain, oodles of parking, and the first hole is very close to the parking area (as opposed to Three Blind Mice where there’s a long, steep hike from the insufficient parking area to the first hole).
This is actually the first time I’ve mentioned disc golf on my blog. I started playing in 2015, and started playing regularly in 2019. As of today I’ve logged 465 rounds in UDisc, and I’ve played several tournaments, including the BC Open this summer in Aldergrove, BC. I’ve played disc golf in Japan, Hawaii, Florida, Ontario, and British Columbia. This summer we are going to attend the world championships at Tampere & Nokia in Finland! I’m hoping to play disc golf in (at least) Finland, Sweden, and Norway.
