Failed my first calculus midterm

October 9, 2004

It's no fun to say this, but since I said last week I think I got between 70 and 90% on my Math midterm I think I should at least provide an update, so it doesn't continue to be perceived as reality.

I failed the midterm. I scored 14.5 marks out of 31. That's far below 70%. Just as abysmal, the average mark in the class was approximately 12 out of 31. So I'm above the average in this class, but not good enough for the university to consider I am passing the class, as the midterm's difficulty is set consitently with midterms in past terms.

Like I said I studied like mad. Of course I could have done more, I could have studied for hours every day between the start of term and the midterm. I didn't. I didn't have time to. But I could have done more than I did. And obviously, I'm going to have to do more to pass this course. And I must pass this course.

I had my combinatorials and logic midterm on Friday. It didn't go as well as I hoped it would. I hope I passed it. After seeing how the calculus test went, I refuse to guess I did well.

I hoped to see the results of my linguistics midterm before the end of the week so I'd have something to feel good about, because I am still confident I did excellent on that test, but unfortunately that didn't happen.
