If you need an excellent database for UNIX, Windows or Mac OS X, consider FrontBase.

I'm doing some maintenance work on an existing WebObjects application that uses FrontBase, and I had a question.... emailed their support email address, and within minutes I had a response. I sent another email for some additional details and received another prompt response. Gotta love it.

And the database is great, too. :-)
