Toronto Sun: It's gold for CBC, bronze for NBC

I watched the NBC broadcast... I must say, it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected it to be from watching hockey on American TV in the past. It was a good thing there weren't any European teams playing though because those guys make a mockery of their names. :-)

It was very annoying that they kept going to commercial and missing the play, but I knew that would happen. And they also missed most of the post-game ceremony with commercials... argh! I'm glad my mom and brother-in-law Shane taped it for me on CBC.

I'll say this: the commentators were pretty objective, and knew their hockey. (that goes without saying for John Davidson but you never know which NASCAR or NBA commentator they'll throw into the booth with him). Gary Thorne kept making mistakes though, like calling Phil Housley Canadian (he's on the USA team) and things like that. I picked up probably half-a-dozen minor gaffes.

Anyway, it wasn't so bad watching it on NBC, but gimme Bob Cole, Harry Neale, Don Cherry and Ron MacLean any day of the week.
