Help: Networking a house
November 30, 2001
I'm hoping someone can help me out here. A friend is building a house and wants to have every room in the house networked, with ethernet jacks.
Of course 802.11b is an option, but "up to" 11Mbps isn't nearly as nice as 100Mbps or 1Gbps for shuttling things around. As far as he's concerned, wireless is for fun, surfing on the couch or the deck, but for the real deal, wired is the way to go.
If you know anything about what kind of equipment is needed, the do's and don'ts, and/or where to look on the web for information about this kind of thing, please reply here. My friend will monitor the thread for updates.
Thanks!
