'Cheers' Actors Settle Suit

Wendt and Ratzenberger stopped(? the suit was settled and terms were not discussed) a company with a license to use the Cheers decor and theme from using characters that (generally) resembled Norm and Cliff.

"Attorneys for Paramount argued that giving actors control of characters devised by others devalues the creative process."

Only slightly!!! The characters belonged to Paramount, not the actors.
