Fewer wired homes

CNet: Fewer wired homes as free ISPs vanish

See, this Internet thing was just a big fad. Long live print and television! ;-)

But I'm bucking the trend (as always). Today, PacBell DSL should be activated in my home. I've never had DSL before, I had @Home cable internet in Canada since October, 1998.

How can I tell when they activate the DSL? Will I stop having a dial-tone on that line unless I put the filter on? I'm just wondering how to tell if DSL is activated when I get home from work today.
