From the SOAP spec:

 It is worth noting that the rules governing XML payload format in SOAP are entirely independent of the fact that the payload is carried over an HTTP transport. 

I think that means that SOAP requests don't have to be sent over HTTP. That's good!

It sounds like there aren't ANY implementations of SOAP available yet. That surprised me, because Microsoft usually has a "reference implementation" (cough) available for download when they submit a spec. Maybe their implementation of SOAP is waiting for "Babylon", their software integration server.. (cough)
