I'm surprised I haven't mentioned this yet here... my take on the Free PC phenomenon is that it's a crafty move by the ISP world to sucker consumers who don't know any better into multi-year contracts offering them internet service which will be obselete in less than a year. Who's going to want an ISP account two years from now when broadband (DSL, cable, satellite, etc) really catches on in the mainstream??

It's just another example of corporate North America worrying about short-term gains rather than building long-term relationships with their customers through truly honest service.
