Microsoft misquoted, there is NO $50 iPod
Michael Gartenberg: There is NO $50 iPod from Microsoft...
The Microsoft guy was mis-quoted. The press is brutal sometimes. eWeek completely made up quotes for their story about the Plone Foundation (which is why I didn't link to it), leading to potentially damaging misinformation.

Napster is un-Canadian
Napster.ca: Music. Legal, safe and easy.
It's not safe, because it runs on and only on Windows, and for most people, running Windows is asking for trouble. It's not easy because people have to pay for it. It's legal, but so is downloading music from LimeWire, or any other P2P system, in Canada.
How ironic that I used to be anti-Napster because it was illegal, and now I'm anti-Napster because it's a ripoff. Canadian music companies are already getting my money in the form of a levy on blank CDs, MP3 players and more. So, I'm paid up. If they get rid of those tariffs, maybe I wouldn't mind paying for music directly again. No double-dipping for you, music corps!
Gore's speech
Remarks by Al Gore - May 26, 2004 - As Prepared
This is the transcript of the speech Gore delivered yesterday that called for a number of resignations. Given his opinion of Bush's performance, I think the only reason he wouldn't call for Bush's resignation is because of sensitivity over the 2000 election fiasco.

Fiesta BBQ False Advertising
We were misled by the manufacturer's packaging to believe it would take 15 minutes to assemble this BBQ in 5 steps with no tools. Completely untrue.
The instructions clearly shows 9 steps. There are 59 pieces. To do this in 15 minutes you'd have to average around 1 piece per 15 seconds. Or, if you spent 5 minutes reading the diagram, you'd have about 10 seconds per piece. That assumes all the pieces are laid out and clearly labelled, which they are not -- they are packaged tightly in a box, in bags, in boxes, and aren't individually labelled.
That said, I really like the BBQ. We haven't used all the features yet, but our first two meals from it were great. It's too bad the initial assembly experience was so negative and misleading, or I would recommend Fiesta to anyone.
