Mario Lemieux planning comeback?

SLAM! Sports Report: Mario Lemieux planning comeback with Pittsburgh Penguins -- "USA Today reports that Lemieux is expected to announce next week that he's planning a comeback as a player within 30 days."

Unfreakingbelievable.

Here's the USAToday report. The link might not work in a week though.

I downloaded this last night (found the link on the Radio DG), I'm going to play with it this weekend. I love these kinds of tools.

SVG and Flash for WO

New: SVGObjects -- "SVGObjects is a framework for vending SVG components from WebObjects. Now a technology pre-release, SVGObjects Framework demonstrates the use of Apple's WebObjects to serve dynamic SVG content."

Another tool for WO, ReportMill, makes it very easy to dynamically generate complex PDF and Flash content from WebObjects.

The great part about WebObjects is reusability. SVGObjects and Reportmill use the same Enterprise Objects classes you wrote for your Web app to generate SVG, PDF and Flash.

Paul Thurrott's SuperSite for Windows: Windows

SuperSite for Windows: Windows "Whistler" Beta 1 reviewed -- "In Whistler, you can log out but keep the previous user session available for simultaneous use."

Damn, that rocks. Of course, X-Windows users have had this forever, but as far as I know it isn't a feature of Mac OS X. I wished a number of times it would be.

Apache vs. IIS

Google search: Apache rewriting -- features a lot of articles about using mod_rewrite to rewrite URLs so that you can avoid having ?args=in&your=urls.

Google search: IIS rewriting -- features a lot of articles about rewriting your applications when they are no longer scalable, or rewriting applications that worked great under Apache and are now having problems under IIS.

Why can't I find a mod_rewrite equivalent for IIS? I hate IIS.

ZDNet: News: Apple plots Mac OS X ship date

ZDNet: Apple plots Mac OS X ship date

Februrary 24? That would be EXCELLENT!

The WO group recently said WO5 would be out around the same time as OS X. So many things to look forward too!

Back to the Future for this weblog

It's now possible to post items into the past (to backfill) or future (to seed) of a Conversant weblog page.

I'm going to be using both historical and future entries on the weblog for the Oilogger site, to get it up to date and to set it up for future games. More on this later...
