Michael Simcich invited me to comment about the Natrificial (ryhmes with artificial, neat huh?) patent situation. I've posted my comments as a reply to his article on tecnocrat.net.

Toronto Maple Leaf Bryan Berard took an errant stick in the eye last Saturday. He'll probably lose his sight in his right eye, which I guess would end his young, bright career. What can I say? I don't know. That sucks.

While cleaning up my filters today, I found Usersville, which certainly LOOKS great, design and content-wise.

It's a Manila site, hosted by Eric Clerico's weblogger.com service. It looks like his designers worked on this site.

The only strange thing I've seen so far is a pithy quote from eternal blowhard Ronald C.F. Antony at the top and bottom of their template. Ronald is a frequent contributor on the macosx-talk list, who won't be happy until he's CEO of Apple so he can make them update and release Cocoa for Windows and make them repent for all of their sins against ex-NeXT developers.

The Register: AMD claims Intel giving away chips for X-Box. Isn't that (product dumping) illegal in the USA under anti-trust laws?

"The patent is the first issued of several filed by TheBrain.com. Its issuance creates a significant barrier to entry for companies considering developing similar technology and solidifies TheBrain.com’s position as the leading provider of visual information environments."

A response from a customer (me): Why Brain, Why?

Update, 14:30 PST: I've added a screenshot of my "brain" to the Why Brain, Why letter.

I really love using The Brain, but now when I use it I feel... well honestly, I feel like I'm using pirated software... even though I paid for it. It feels like I'm pirating the world by using it. How lame.

Check out ThoughtStream.

Sigh...
