Usage Policy
As a result of a very annoying incident with a reader of this web site, I've decided to write down these rules of conduct for use of this web site.It pisses me off that I'm even writing this, in effect responding to someone who thinks their rights as a reader of this site somehow usurps my rights as the owner of this site. But common sense isn't universal, or consistent.
- This is my site. I pay for it, just as I pay rent for the apartment I live in. Conduct yourself as a visitor to this web site as you would conduct yourself as a visitor to my apartment.
- I reserve the right to ask you to leave my site (ie: not to post to the discussion group) for any reason, just as I have the right to ask you to leave my apartment if you were visiting.
- Don't spam the members of this site.
- In the event of a conflict, Jim Roepcke's decisions are final.
- If you don't like these rules, change the channel.
I have only asked one person to leave this site, on a temporary basis. It makes me uncomfortable to have had to do that but the Internet is not a utopia so I guess it was bound to happen.
I encourage people to post to the discussion group, even if, or especially if, they have a contrary view to mine. I also encourage people to start their own web sites so they can enjoy the fun that is weblogging/sysop'ing.
Sorry to subject you to this ridiculous Usage Policy. I only hope it makes anyone who'd claim they have free will do use my site as they like for all times realize they don't.
Jim Roepcke
