WWDC 2008 Student Scholarship Program announced
Apple Developer Connection: Worldwide Developers Conference 2008 - Student Scholarship Program
Announced! Good stuff, Apple.
Hockey Day in Victoria
Today I coached two games in the morning, then went to watch Canada's Female Olympic Hockey team in the mid afternoon, then played a game at 7pm.
Now I'm watching the Oilers vs. Flames which started recording as my own game started.
Tomorrow I will coach a game at 10am. If we had won tonight I would have played at 4pm, but we didn't, so, while that sucks, at least I can work on homework tomorrow.
Privoxy domain scooped by ad spam
I use the Privoxy proxy server, and recently discovered that their domain (privoxy.org) has disappeared and replaced with one of those stupid ad sites.
Not sure if someone just forgot to renew it or what, but either way it's pretty disappointing.
Apple WWDC 2008 – No Students this year?
I've got a theory about the lack of student scholarship / ticket options for WWDC 2008 (thus far).
I think Apple is expecting so many new attendees for the event because of the iPhone SDK that they aren't sure there will be enough room. When you're running out of room and prioritizing, it's not hard to understand that free and cheap tickets are the last to be offered. I'm guessing they're looking at ticket sale trends and figuring out where they'll be by June. Chances are they won't have room to accomodate students this year.
If they're going to offer student scholarships, they'll need to get that process underway soon so that students can apply, find out if they're going and make travel arrangements.
The other theory... last year, students were mistreated during the keynote, they weren't allowed into the keynote because there were too many attendees, and worse yet they weren't brought into the auxilliary room until the keynote had already started. We were literally held in a corner until they were ready to let us upstairs. Quite a few people complained about the poor treatment, so maybe they just want to avoid issues like this by simply not having the students there.

Apple WWDC 2008 – Students?
Apple Developer Connection: Worldwide Developers Conference 2008
Apple announced WWDC 2008 today, it's in June in San Francisco (again). I had no intentions of going this year, but the iPhone SDK announcements are sorta changing things. I'm seriously interested in developing applications for the iPhone, so obviously WWDC is the place to be this June.
I'm hoping I can get a student scholarship to the conference, as has been available in previous years, but I haven't found any information about it yet. If you know anything about student rates / scholarships this year, please let me know.
Of course, I would be even more excited if we could actually, oh I don't know, get the iPhone in Canada. I guess it's the price I pay for living in an undeveloped country like Canada instead of a technology haven like Ireland.
