Tea Leaves: Take This .sit and Stuff It (via Stepwise)

I've been wanting to say the same thing for a while now, thanks! It's so unbelievably frustrating to download a .tgz or .tar.gz or .zip file and have it show up on the desktop with a Stuffit Expander icon. Now instead of just double-clicking it I have to right-click on it and choose Open With, or drag it to OpenUp. A while ago I even downloaded a utility that would let me change all the type/creator/file extension mappings, I went through it and my browsers' prefs with a fine-toothed comb to make sure Stuffit Expander wasn't selected for ANYTHING, but sometimes files would show up with those icons anyway!

In response to reading that story, I just did something amusing. I right-clicked on Stuffit Expander.app in Finder and chose 'Create Archive of "Stuffit Expander.app"'. Heh. Now Stuffit Expander.app is zipped, and I trashed the actual application. It's going to have to try pretty damn hard to wiggle itself out of THAT situation. :-)
