Seth’s string optimizations

TruerWords: Frontier 10: Being Involved (Long and Rambly)

Seth's love for optimization is benefitting the open source Frontier project. I think the project is going to need a lot more Seths before the big things get dealt with. Regardless, it's great that interested people are able to make improvements now. :-)

Mathematics and Sex

Slashdot: Mathematics and Sex

Heh! If our Calculus teacher had used "The Sultan's Dowry Problem" instead of the "Monty Hall" problem during our look at applications of infinite series, I'd bet the class average would have been a little higher. ;-)

SuperDrive upgrade for PowerBook G4

Oooh, maybe I can get one of these for Christmas (next year):

FastMac: SuperDrive 8x for PowerBook G4 667 MHz or Higher

They have SuperDrive upgrades for a bunch of other computers too, like iBooks, Cubes, iMacs, etc.

Actually, I'm not sure there's much point in having a DVD-burner without having a digital camcorder. What would I burn without having interesting digital content? I think I'll keep an eye on specials for digital camcorders this Boxing Day.
