Canadian held in U.S. prison on ridiculous charges

Emmanuel M. Decarie sent me an e-mail to alert me of this story of a Canadian man who was arrested in a bordertown for doing essentially nothing.

Globe and Mail: Canadian who filled tank in U.S. indicted

Michel Jalbert, who lives in a bordertown in Quebec, was filling up his gas tank at a gas station 15 metres inside the U.S.A., 1 km away from the U.S. customs station portion of the border town he lives in, when he was arrested because he had a rifle in the back of his truck and a 13-year-old criminal record.

Now he has been in jail for a month.
