That is seriously cool.
Enough-in-Two for OS X
We decided that an All-in-One solution was not realistic at this time. We also decided to forgoe the scanner for now, until we have a good use case for one.
Thankfully, I've settled on a printer, the Espon Stylus C82 and FAX Machine w/copier functionality... a Panasonic KX-FHD332C.
I tested the C82 this evening. It's drivers installed wonderfully in Jaguar, I printed a 3 page RTF file and a 4 megapixel image from iPhoto in greeting-card format. For the RTF File I chose the fastest settings. I've never seen an ink-jet printer print so fast!! And the quality, at the lowest setting, was better than the highest setting on my last printer. The photograph, using the "fine" preset in iPhoto, came out wonderfully as well. It was also faster than my old printer.
A few weeks ago I printed out 11 pages from Project Builder, 2 pages per sheet, in color, high-quality settings. It took about 35 minutes to print. I would expect those 11 pages to come out in a minute or two, tops, on this new printer. And at the lowest setting I'd still get finer output.
As you can probably tell, I'm very happy with this printer.
Now to set up the FAX machine...

Awesome. Hopefully next year's EA Sports NHL game will have network play capabilities!
Actually, I hope they all do! FIFA 2004, the next SSX game, the next Super Smash Bros. game, and so on!
The Pierce brothers turn one
Greg and Katie Pierce's boys, Asher and Keegan are one year old today! Happy Birthday! I've thoroughly enjoyed following their progress over the last 12 months. Here's to many more!
All-In-One Printer/etc for OS X?
I'm looking for a good all-in-one printer/copier/scanner/fax machine that works with Mac OS X.
I was '' that close to buying an HP G85 when I did a Google search in the store that revealed a lot of unhappy customers, including my friend Damien Barrett.
The Lexmark X83 has had mixed reviews... mostly good though.
I really do need a printer, copier, scanner and fax machine, though a printer and scanner can do the job of a copier. If I can get a fax machine, printer and scanner for the same price as a good all-in-one, I'd definitely go for that.
If you have any advice on this matter, I'd love to hear it. Thanks.

Cyan’s moving out
Our 4.5 year-old daughter Cyan told us tonight that she's moving out of the house because she's upset that she is half-Chinese.
She said Mommy is Chinese, but she's only half-Chinese and that upsets her. She said that Cheryl's mom is Chinese, and her uncles are Chinese, but she isn't. That was no good. She wants to be full-Chinese like everyone else... everyone but Daddy, anyway. I told her that Daddy is German and Dutch, so she is half-Chinese, and quarter German, quarter Dutch. "I'm nothing!", she exclaimed!
She asked why doesn't Mommy live with her Mommy and Daddy, because they are Chinese and her uncles are and they all live together. (I guess she figures all the Chinese people are supposed to live in one house)
I wish I had video-taped the whole conversation, because it was priceless.
We tried to figure out where this all came from, and she said something about my Mom talking about her being half-Chinese. We'll have to have a little talk with Oma to find out what happened.
LOL!
Tyrell: OpenNMS for Mac OS X
I am immensely proud to announce (and be the first to announce - hah!) that Tyrell Software has released OpenNMS 1.1.0 for Mac OS X!
(NMS stands for Network Management System)
We have been working on this for quite a while, and it's finally ready for public consumption. We made a slick Installer using Apple's PackageMaker and Installer which makes installation a breeze.
I'm also proud to say that we included a PreferencePane for System Preferences that lets you check the status of OpenNMS, start and stop it, configure its startup, and other conveniences. It's my first released commercial Cocoa package, and that makes me seriously giddy.
To Johnie, Mark, and everyone at Tyrell that made this a reality -- bravo!
