World reaction summarized

Salon does a good job of summarizing world-reaction to the Bush doctrine.

Salon.com: Bush doctrine makes waves overseas

Over the last couple of days I've been evaluating my stance on this situation. If I actually trusted the Bush administration one iota, I wouldn't be too worried about this. And I guess there's not much reason to be until they demonstrate that this doctrine is going to be used against the sovereignty of another nation (other than Iraq, which is already doomed, it would appear). I think it's safe to say that the US should consider itself to be walking on eggshells now -- at least in the realm of public-opinion. Misplace our trust now and it's going to take a long time to repair the damage. Whether that lost trust would matter to the US is another issue, unfortunately.
