Huge H deposits in the Earth's crust
Vancouver Sun: Huge hydrogen stores found below Earth's crust
"Everyone thinks of gas and oil as the main sources, and it's very difficult to get anyone to take alternatives seriously," said Dr. David Elliott, the professor of technology policy at the Open University in London. "The possibility of vast reserves of hydrogen in the Earth's crust could change that mindset."
I also read this NYTimes article which suggested that drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (in Alaska) might only reduce U.S. dependency on oil imports by 4 or 5 percent within 10 years. So much for drilling in Alaska being the cure-all to U.S.'s problems with its oil interests in the Middle East.
