    Good luck, Jim!

I was pretty nervous for Katie’s c-section, I must admit…but it wasn’t so bad after all.

    How about “Thor”?

  2. All best wishes for the birth Jim.

I like the name Kenneth ;-)

  3. What about…Hans? :-)

Our second was a preemie, so we didn’t dare think about names until
we knew he had a chance of making it. That night I went through the baby
name book, and wrote down every name that I didn’t hate. I came up with
a dozen, and brought it to the hospital the next day. My wife crossed
off 6 of those, and we took the remaining 6 down to the NICU and said
each one while looking at him. It was pretty cool that we both agreed he
looked most like “Daniel”, so that’s what we named him.

  6. They did ours. No family reasons. Just liked the way they sounded.

Jim, if during the C-section you get cold, clammy, and dizzy you are either:
a)about to pass out or b) realizing that life just got more than 2X more complicated.

For ‘a’, try to sit down on the floor to minimize the risk of falling off your stool and sustaining a head injury.

For ‘b’. I’ll let you know when I figure it out (I’ve had two years now and I’m still not close to an answer.
    :-)

My top three suggestion for names:

    3. Oscar Roepcke (only if you commit to raising the child in a garbage can)

I’m sure you’ll find one of these appropriate ;)

Hehe, I actually suggested Thor early on. I’ve had trouble with all the
scandinavian names I’ve suggested. Magnus is way near the top of my
list and got nowhere with the family. :-)

    Keep the suggestions coming please!

Well…we basically split the chore with the twins.

I named Asher Reed — Asher for Ash in the Evil Dead movies, and Reed for Lou Reed.

Katie came up with Keegan Maxwell…no real significance, we just liked the names.

We actually liked Maxwell as a first name, but we have a dog named Maxie, so that probably wouldn’t have worked out too good.

Of course, none of that information is really helping you much. :-)

Since we’re on the topic, am I the only one who supports permanent
banishment for whoever thought up that commercial where the child ask her
mother how her brother and her named, and the mother says they were named
after the places they were conceived?

For a second I thought I was watching some SNL skit.

No, that would be if Jim’s old kid were named “Columbia.”

Hmm…for me, going from no kids to 2 boys all at once, I think that b) was more like “realizing that life just got more than 1000x more complicated!!!”

But often, the best things in life come with a certain level of complexity — so I don’t mind. ( hey, wait — that could also be a tag line for Conversant! :-) )

Actually, I looked at Cheryl’s open gut, and it didn’t bother me at
all. The mess I saw last time was many times worse than this (you can
imagine how happy we were to have a C/S this time!)!!

We’ll go with the flow. It’s more complicated, but also more
    rewarding. :-)

Thanks for all the information you sent us earlier, it truly helped!

And I think you just came up with the perfect name for Jim’s son!

    ;-)

  18. congratulations!!!!What a big decision – to name your son – how about ; Dylan,Colton,Taylor, Nicholas, Logan, Jameel.

  19. My turn:

    1. Feedback Roepcke
    2. Rerun Roepcke
    3. Robert Roepcke

(OK, the last one isn’t such a cultural reference, it just sounds nice to
    my ear.)

Failing any of these, I have to throw my support behind “Butros Butros
    Roepcke.”
