Jim Roepcke's weblog have browser, will travel (est. 1999)

6 years

Windows 95 was released 6 years ago today. I ran it on a 486DX2/66 with 20 MB of RAM.

Today I'm my work machine Windows 2000 on a Pentium III 800 with 512 MB RAM. It doesn't feel any faster than the 486 did back then. :-) Of course, I wasn't doing the kinds of things on that machine that I can do now!

But, I think if all you want is basic Office/e-mail stuff, nothing has really improved in 6 years. SIGH.
