USA Hockey to practise throughout camp

Report: USA Hockey to practise throughout camp

"The NHLPA agreed to let Olympic teams meet for four days, of which two days would include on-ice time without coaches. The Americans will ignore those rules and hit the ice with coaches all four days, TSN said."

I can't say I'm surprised. The rules regarding practice for the olympic teams are total crap. What team can properly prepare for the Olympics in 2 days?

Multitasking counterproductive

CNN.com Study: Multitasking is counterproductive

Finally, a study to back up what I always told my managers at CEISS -- I cannot handle working on 6 different projects at one time and do work that meets my quality expectations under strict deadlines.

I work best when I'm working on 1 or 2 tasks/projects.

Actually, Hal Jorch, the first manager I had at CEISS, really understood this. (He didn't stay at CEISS very long -- hint hint).

When I told him I was being asked to do too many things at once he taught me about thrashing, which is what happens when a multitasking operating system starts spending more time switching between tasks than performing the tasks themselves. He said it applied to people every bit as much as computers.

15796 messages in Inbox

Uh oh. It's a little worse than I thought. I have 15796 messages in my Inbox this morning.

(ducking!)

I also had over 8000 message on my server mailbox and now that I've cleared those out, the ones that had been cached after my account went over quota are now coming in.

A coworker says the pain stops at about 26000.

Thanks James, I feel better now! And congrats on becoming an expecting uncle!
