The Tech

Shane, Cyan and I went to the The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose today. We had a great time! We forgot to eat lunch today, so by 4:30 we were really tired.

Then we drove around the Stanford Campus, which is gorgeous. A nice day!

Goran wins!

Picture: Goran beats Andy "Hype" Roddick

I thought Goran had retired! I'm very happy to see him winning and looking happy again. Goran's one of my favourite players, mostly because of his mental game. ;-) And his big serve.

Oh, and I use the same racquet as he does. (I didn't pick it because he uses it)

KnowNow Whatchamacallit

KnowNow, Inc.: KnowNow Event Router

Sorry KnowNow, I have to join the club of people who can't understand a damn thing on your web site. And that's pretty bad considering the info about your project was leaked to me over 4 months ago.

What the hell is "100% Web-native"?

Net outage again

I can't get to a bunch of places via dialup again. It's weird, I can nslookup them, ping them, traceroute them, but I can't connect to them over port 80, or, in the case of my mail server, port 110.

I can get to this site, however. I can also get to canoe.ca. And yahoo.

Monterey Bay Aquarium

We drove to Monterey yesterday to visit their beautiful Aquarium. Wow! I wish I would have had a few more hours to run around that place. A definite must-see for animal lovers.

Court Reverses Breakup of Microsoft

Court Reverses Breakup of Microsoft

Damn. So what if Jackson said those things. Just because he had a biased opinion (which followed the decision he made) AFTER the trial doesn't mean he was biased BEFORE the trial began. If anything I think it suggests that Jackson strongly believed in his decision.

Phooey. Hopefully they come up with an even better punishment.

Whiter #metaXYZ?

Why couldn't UserLand just put...

#metaMSSmartTagsPreventParsing "TRUE"

...in the root table of each of their websites? The ability to add random meta tags using that pattern of directive was added to Frontier the website framework in Frontier in version 5 or 5.1 IIRC.

Update: Turns out they wanted to do this for sites that weren't served with the website framework and even ones where meta tags had been disabled.

That would break pages that weren't intended to be HTML, mind you, but if you really want to turn off Smart Tags I guess that's the way to do it.

Routers down

There are routers down in sprintlink and exodus that are making it hard for me to get to a lot of places on the Internet via Earthlink.

Argh.

Alcatraz

My dad, brother in law Shane, and I did the Alcatraz tour today. It was pretty darn cool. Much better than I was expecting. But boy, does that place STINK!

I thought San Francisco itself smelled bad. Alcatraz is way worse. Not a big surprise I guess but ugh.

Year 3 begins

Hi Everyone. I'm a little busy today, but I wanted to recognize this day here.

Today's the 1st day of the 3rd year of have browser, will travel!

I wanted to have a redesign ready for today but I couldn't come up with anything, so the status quo will continue until I get a flash of creativity. :-)
