Tornado

Last night I saw the movie Twister for the first time. I've put off watching this movie for years because I knew it would bring back bad memories of July 31, 1987 when Edmonton was struck by an F4 tornado that killed 13 people. (It did bring back the memories, it was hard to watch)

So imagine my disbelief this morning when I walk by the newspaper stand in the muni station to see the today's top headline, Kansas Cleans Up, above a picture of an SUV laying upside down against a tree.

Here's the story...

AP: Kansas Tornado Kills One

One person died because sirens did not alert him of the tornado, which is exactly the premise behind Twister -- storm chasers trying to find better ways to predict tornados so less people will die from them.

Very sad.
