Soft spots remain in Apple's new OS
I'm sorry but I just can NOT get upset about the lack of DVD playback in Mac OS X 1.0. If you need spend a lot of time watching DVDs on your computer you don't need to be running OS X to do it.
I have a DVD-ROM drive in my PowerBook and I've watched less than 10 movies on it in over a year and a half. It's a nice-to-have but not a necessity.
I guess it's easy for me to say because I have a (cheap) DVD player hooked up to my TV as well.
DVD authoring, that's another story, but please, this is a brand new area for even OS 9.1. There are good reasons Apple's not shipping this on new Macs right away, and this would have to be one of them.
