My IMDb

Ev notices the My IMDb service.

In mid-January while I was between jobs, I wrote a similar app in WebObjects. (I hadn't heard of My IMDb though)

The big difference in my app is that it lets you track who has borrowed your movies, and who's movies you've borrowed.

A few of my friends started using it, they inputted quite a few movies into it! (Apparently I have 4 of Alex's movies. :-) )

Some of them suggested I make it bigger and "put it on the web", meaning, .COM it. That'd be fun, but I don't think now's the time.

I'm seriously considering making the application public domain and submitting it to Stepwise as a sample WO application, something that's lacking in the WO community.

Rohit Khare: WhatÂ’s in a Name? Trust.

The first paragraph makes me giggle. I can't wait to find time to read the rest. I'm too busy to read some of the stuff that I link to here!

MacWEEK, MacCentral to Consolidate

MacWEEK: MacWEEK, MacCentral to Consolidate

Mixed feelings. MacCentral better get a LOT better because of this or I'll be really disappointed. MacCentral is full of typos, misinformation and stuff that has obviously not been fact-checked.

On the other hand, MacCentral is Canadian, which is cool I guess.

Saloooo, Saloooo, Saloooo

The Edmonton Oilers' goalie, Tommy Salo, is a sieve.

I can't believe the media is so in love with the guy, he's so bad.

Soft spots remain in Apple's new OS

I'm sorry but I just can NOT get upset about the lack of DVD playback in Mac OS X 1.0. If you need spend a lot of time watching DVDs on your computer you don't need to be running OS X to do it.

I have a DVD-ROM drive in my PowerBook and I've watched less than 10 movies on it in over a year and a half. It's a nice-to-have but not a necessity.

I guess it's easy for me to say because I have a (cheap) DVD player hooked up to my TV as well.

DVD authoring, that's another story, but please, this is a brand new area for even OS 9.1. There are good reasons Apple's not shipping this on new Macs right away, and this would have to be one of them.
