Amazon to Break HP4 Embargo
Wired: Amazon to Break HP4 Embargo - This really disappoints me. Why do they feel they have to do this? Is it that important? It's not like they're gaining a business advantage, because they're losing money on every sale, discounted at 40% off.
Tracy Wynne, owner of SF's Cover To Cover Booksellers, said "but they're in a position where they can afford to hemorrhage money."
I'm not so sure about that. cf News.com: Amazon.com shares hit new 52-week low. Even Amazon won't be able to escape the reality of the changing dot com economy of 2000.
Islanders shake up entry draft
SLAM Sports: Islanders shake up entry draft "Later, instead of using his second-round pick, 35th overall, Milbury traded it to Edmonton, along with highly touted defenceman Eric Brewer, 21, and big left-winger Josh Green, 22, for veteran Oilers defenceman Roman Hamrlik, 26."
I had heard that Hamrlik was on the market, but I'm sad to see him go. What a powerplay specialist. New York is doing making big moves -- they draft a goalie 1st overall and then trade away their two existing goalies!
That's bold. (and so was the last sentence!)
TSN
I was expecting to see the NHL draft on TSN this morning when I turned on my TV. Instead I see Italy vs. Romania in a Euro 2000 match.
I like watching the draft. Some people think it's boring, but I think it's exciting.
*sigh*
