If I have an external display, I can use LaunchBar to bring up the
Display Preference pane. I can then click the 'gather' button to bring
both windows to the external display, and can then change the
resolution on the MBP. That usually is enough to wake it up. But if
I'm running the laptop by itself, it's usually a reboot.
