I have also been HARASSED by Gemma Communications and decided to write them a letter. This was their very impersonal response. I hope this might help if you decide to further the complaint process. Funny thing is, no where in the email does it ever mention Gemma's name, provide an apology, or have them take any responsibility: PS - an ADAD is an auto-dialer machine (not sure they're aware of that as this mistake it as a company name).....

The Canadian Marketing Association does not own, compile, prepare or rent lists of consumers' names and addresses. CMA is a private trade association funded by its members.

Our service will not work if you are an existing client with the company who is contacting you. You will need to have them remove you from their internal lists.

We offer the Do Not Contact Service free of charge to consumers.

ADAD is not a member of our association, adding your name to our DNC list should significantly reduce the marketing calls and mail that you receive. Unfortunately, this will not eliminate all calls/mail as there are many non-CMA companies that do not use our DNC list. For that reason, beginning in 2001, the CMA urged the Federal Government to establish a National Do Not Call service, use of which would be mandatory for all subject telemarketers. The government passed legislation to create such a service, and we expect the new service to be in place later this year. To view more information on this please visit this link http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/NEWS/RELEASES/2007/r071221.htm

We cannot stop automotive dialers, calls from the United States or International Long distance Calls. Most of the financial institutions participate with your removal program.

Business to Business telemarketing may be exempt from our removal service. Adherence to Business to Business telemarketing is voluntary by each individual company We can only police the companies who voluntarily participate in our removal service.

Please note our service will take a minimum of 6 weeks to begin to take effect. Up to an 80% reduction for general telemarketing. Up to a 20% reduction for charity requests. Facsimile removal requests can only be effective up to 10 %. Valid for the next 3 years. We can only police the Canadian business the participate with our removal program. You may self-register at any time for our Do Not Contact list by visiting our website at the following link : http://www.the-cma.org to view a list of our member companies please follow this link http://cma.officialbuyersguide.net/ and search by company.

For complaints regarding telemarketers who do not comply with our removal service please address your issues, preferably in writing, to the CRTC – Canadian Radio, Television and Telecommunications Commission available either at www.crtc.gc.ca or 1-877-249-2782 or your Federal member of Parliament – contact information at wwww.canada.gc.ca or 1-800-O-CANADA (1-800-622-6232). Your last resort is your telephone carrier.
