St. Patty's Day Linkdump
My favourite St. Patty's Day T-Shirt seen at the mall today: A green T-shirt with a shamrock and the words: "I'm a drinker, not a fighter".
BTW, I now have a Linkdump AppleScript for Firefox too. It iterates through the tabs of the frontmost window and builds links for each of them, then makes a new post in MarsEdit and sets the body of the new post to that HTML. If you want it, and/or my similar script for linkdumping NetNewsWire tabs, let me know.
I'd make a Safari version, but I don't use it anymore. I'll probably give Safari another shot when Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard comes out.
Oh, and Steve, guess how I run my Firefox Linkdump script? Using QuickSilver... yup, I've switched from Launchbar as per your recommendation. I'm still not completely sold on it, but for now, it's doing what I was using Launchbar for, and it seems faster, so for now, QS stays.
davidbau.com: Python String Functions - make sure to read the comments, I agree that while it may be "cool" that Python can adapt itself to that syntax, it's not a good solution to nearly any Python programming problem or software design problem.

I found that link completely by accident looking on Google for something completely unrelated to programming (and nails and stealing, btw! ;-)).

O'Reilly Open Source Convention 2007
Should I go to WWDC 2007 or OSCON 2007? WWDC has student scholarships... I can't find any information on the OSCON site about student rates, but going to Portland for a week would be a lot cheaper than San Francisco... then again, OSCON would probably cost about the same after paying for a ticket. So which is a better use of my time and money?

Slashdot: Is Computer Science Dead?
I shouldn't even give that post publicity by linking to it but I think it's so ridiculous it's worth reading for the comic value alone. It's like asking if cooking is dead because frozen TV dinners have become so delicious and heathy.

I love it. The utter despair of dealing with IE as a web developer is one of the reasons I decided to go back to school (seriously). I definitely agree with the idea that IE support for web sites/applications should be an explicit and optional line item in estimates.

Penguins stay in Pittsburgh
Yahoo! Sports: Penguins, officials strike arena deal to keep team in Pittsburgh
I'm very glad for Pittsburgh, but it would have been interesting to see an NHL team in Las Vegas. I'm not sure if I'm happy that the Oilers won't have to play the Pens more often (since they remain in different conferences) or be disappointed that us westerners won't see more of that exciting young team...
