Is road hockey illegal?
CNEWS: - Is road hockey illegal?
Ugh. Road Hockey is a part of growing up in Canada. I can't believe some cranky old fart would be so cranky and farty to make an issue of this.
Humbug.
2002 ford taurus in Victoria
I saw this link on Velocity:
2002 ford taurus: photoessay - girlrepair.com
When the page first loaded, I wasn't reading the text, just scanning the pictures. Then I saw the fifth picture, and thought to myself, "Hey that kinda looks like the Saturn dealership I bought my car at", noticing the building behind the car also looked a lot like the building my doctor's office is in, which of course is right across the street from the Saturn dealership i bought my car at.
Then I noticed the car in what had to be an Esso station (Esso is a Canadian Oil company), so I read the text next to it and yup!, it's an esso station.
(PS: The whole thread for this message has revolved around what Esso means and where it comes from. hehe)
So, cool, this is in Canada. Okay... I keep on looking at the pics. A few more down... "this is the top of mount tolmie, a boil on the face of my city."
I thought, "Mount Tolmie? Holy crap this is in Victoria!"
So I go back and read it from the top. Yup, it's in Victoria! (my home town) Whaddaya know. It's a small world after all.

Posting via AppleScript
I just got over some hurdles with AppleScript and Conversant's XML-RPC interface, and managed to get it to add a message (this one) to the weblog page. Yay!
I should mention that credit goes to Larry Staton Jr. for the info I needed to get over the hurdles.
If you're using XML/XML-RPC/SOAP from AppleScript on OS X, you NEED to download Steve Zellers' app that provides the debug info (request/response dumps, etc).

Thanks Larry and Steve!
Gates Foundation paying for teacher's Apple training
As mentioned on Macintouch, Apple won a contract with the State of Maine to provide iBooks to 7th and 8th grade students.
What Macintouch didn't mention is this line:
Looks like Bill is trying to rebuild his Karma points. ;-)
MIME-RPC
I've been meaning to point to the MIME-RPC page for over a week now, ever since I read a thread about it on the XML-RPC list over the holidays.
It sounds pretty interesting. I look forward to evaluating an implementation. :-)
First Dog Buddy killed by car
CNN.com: Former first dog Buddy killed by car
:-( That's so sad. I miss my puppies (they're living with my inlaws in Victoria).
My brother-in-law's Boss's dog, also a chocolate lab, IIRC, was killed last year by a car. How horrible.
My dog Cinnamon was hit by a minivan going 30mph when she was about 6 months old... she ran out of the back yard when the electrician left the door open upon leaving. The crazy dog just kept on running after she was hit (she was basically unhurt)! I couldn't believe it. Damn dog had to do it on Sunday too when the vets aren't working... that was an EXPENSIVE electrician's visit.
