Apple recalls PowerBook G3 AC adapters

Important: Apple recalls PowerBook G3 AC adapters

I've always worried about this adaptor, it gets REALLY hot. This recall included the adaptor that came with my Lombard, and I've completed the easy to use replacement form. Have your PowerBook and AC Adaptor handy as you'll need the serial number off of each. I hope it'll be replaced with one of the nice Yo-Yo style adaptors they sell now!

Word + Entourage SE

MacCentral: Microsoft announces availability of Word + Entourage SE

In order to keep the price attractive to potential customers, some advanced tools -- such as menu and toolbar customization, support for scripting, synchronization with Palm handhelds and business templates -- are not included in Word + Entourage 2001 Special Edition"

How does removing the most important features (scripting and Palm sync) make the price more attractive to potential customers? HOW?

What, were those bits taking up too much room on the CD? That's so full of shit. I was actually considering buying it, I'm glad I found out it was crippled crap before I wasted my money.

A bunch of tennis links

Well, just my luck, they're showing the Agassi match (which I did want to see anyway) but they didn't show the Rafter or the Ivanisevic matches. Sigh... at least both won so there's a chance I can see them later in the tourney.

Here's some tennis links for you on my 1st 4th of July in the USA.

Mauresmo loses plot -- this is a very sad story about the mental state of the woman who was booed off the court at Roland Garros in May after losing in the first round. Apparently Amelie is still shook up (haunted according to the article) by that day.

Becker faces jail over £13m tax bill. Another sad story, about a childhood idol of mine.

I don't like the Tennis Williams

I don't like the Tennis Williams. There, I said it. I especially don't like their manipulative father, Richard.

Reuters: Dad says Venus may quit tennis in near future

"She can make a lot more money out of [tennis] rather than in tennis."

This is why I don't like them, or, at least, Venus and Richard... perhaps I shouldn't put Serena in the same pile. That comment suggests all V and R care about is money. They don't care about the sport. For them it's a cash grab. I'd much rather watch and cheer for someone who actually cared what they were doing on the court.

If I'm going to cheer for Venus I might as well cheer the CEO of some Fortune 500 company likes to play tennis at the country club on the weekends.

Crappy Tire

Canadian Tire loses fight to call itself 'crap'

WIPO dismissed the complaint and now Canadian Tire has to live with the fact that it has no right to call itself "crappy"

It's true, it's quite commonly referred to as Crappy Tire in Canada, at least, that's what I'm told by people who live in Eastern Canada. Living in Western Canada, I never heard this until I started working with transplanted Ontarioans. For what it's worth, I've never thought Canadian Tire was crappy.

Either way, this is a pretty funny story.
