Blow the Whistle, Damnit!

CTV SportsNet: Blow the Whistle, Damnit!

Exactly. This is why I've always HATED THE DALLAS STARS with a passion. Even before they took out the Oilers in the '91 Western Conference Finals. Always. They are the cheapest dirtiest team ever. 95% of their goals are garbage goals. They clutch and grab and take the finesse out of the game.

The only reason the Oilers/Stars series is even fun to watch is because of the Oilers speed and their ability to force the Stars to play their game now and then.

Cesspools and eyeballs

Dave Winer: "I swore off posting to SlashDot a couple of years ago. What a cesspool."

Dave Winer: "I wonder if people see what we're doing? Here's how I see it. We're building a broader and more adult SlashDot.Org."

Dave Winer: "Don't use slashdot as an example. That won't sell me. I think slashdot is a cesspool of ill will, and the software is *very* hard to use."

Dave Winer: "We intend to bring the SlashDot metaphor into Manila. This is one of the top feature-request items, and it was a very tricky design problem."

Dave Winer: "We'll create a SlashDot-mode for Manila weblogs"

Dave Winer: "I submitted the Raymond comments to SlashDot, something I learned how to do at the P2P conf. Here's the evidence. Thank you, I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy. You can watch the SlashDot effect roll through our server."

Dave Winer: "Hey I got Slashdotted again! Yow. Thank you thank you."

I guess the moral of the story is, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em!

ArsDigita sues Philip Greenspun

Have you ever said "stranger things have happened"? Something like... ArsDigita suing Philip Greenspun. Yeah, that's strange alright.

Apple acknowledges Lombard/Mac OS X problem

Oh shit.

Apple acknowledges Lombard/Mac OS X problem

"Apple has acknowledged a problem between Lombard PowerBook G3s and Mac OS X when third-party memory is installed on the system."

(temper tantrum)

OSX at last!

I'm finally running OSX on my PowerBook. The installation was smooth, and performance is great so far (after the optimization that the Dev Tools and 10.0.1 installers each perform).

I'm writing this in OmniWeb of course, the only decent browser available for OS X, IMHO.

Docklings, here I come!

Very cool, Tom is doing Expert Systems with Frontier. I've been learning a lot about the power of Expert Systems since starting at NetStruxr...

The kid is all right!

The kid is all right!

Cheryl and I were so excited last night when Mike Comrie scored the overtime winning goal... and then we were proud of him and proud of the team that believed in him and the city that helped develop him and the history of the city that bred the winning and achieving attitude into him. Sport is wonderful, it reminds us who we are, what we believe in and why we persist.

Edmontonians are very proud of where they come from and the Oilers are a big part of that pride.

Go Oilers Go!

Edmonton has a new hero in as talk of upsetting Dallas grows

Edmonton has a new hero in as talk of upsetting Dallas grows

"They chanted his name on the buses and trains on the way home from Tuesday's game. They called radio stations Wednesday to dedicate David Bowie's Heroes to the local boy who did good. ...It turned Edmontonians into believers."

Mets fans say they and the Mets have a philoshopy. I say the Oilers and Oilers fans do too. This doesn't happen in other Canadian hockey cities anymore. Every year during the playoffs I'm reminded why I keep having urges to live in Edmonton AGAIN someday. To be a part of that electricity is something special.

I would not be surprised if I lived in Edmonton again some day.

"All week children have been wearing Oilers jerseys to school and there have been an inordinate amount of people walking around the city with blue and copper coloured hair."

When you enter the city of Edmonton, you're greeted with the sign, "Edmonton, City of Champions". That really sticks with you when you grow up. That probably explains a lot. ;-)

BC Votes May 16th

British Columbia Voters Go to the Polls on May 16

The NDP are soooo screwed. I don't know how the Liberals will fare as the leaders but when a party acts as the NDP have over the years they need to be spanked, hard.
