Up and Up...

The death toll continues to rise. Last night, 7 dead, 38 injured. CNN is reporting 8 dead, 79 injured. Last night's story from CANOE has been updated, now saying at least 9 killed, over 130 injured.

Uhh... CNN's map is completely off. The location of the tornado was near Red Deer, which is between Edmonton and Calgary. Calgary is half way between Edmonton and the southern border. This map shows Pine Lake in the northeast corner of the province. Sigh.

X-Men

I'm going to see X-Men today with a group of friends...

Hehe, I'll look like a giant next to all those little kids at the theatre! Just think of those poor kids who won't be able to see over my head? ;-)

sNiKT!

Tennis anyone?

I'm thinking of joining Tennis BC and the Virtual Victoria Tennis Club. I want to play just about every day, but I only have 2 tennis partners (other than my wife) and only get to play once or twice a week max.

I wanna see it again!

For the record: X-Men kicked ass. I think it's more enjoyable for someone who knows the characters really really well.

I collected X-Men for about 6 years, and worked in comic book stores for over 2. I know the characters.

The Uncrashable OSX-Men

I want to buy one of the OSX-Men t-shirts from MacSurfshop, but their stupid registration page is for, and I quote, "USA Only!".

I've bought from them before! What's the deal with that? They don't want my business anymore? And their 1-888 number doesn't work in Canada! Argh!!!

Hehe, that's twice in one week that a vendor is locking me out of their goods. Shit, I'm gonna get a complex. ;-)

Apple Macintosh Cube...

I won't believe it until I see it, but you might want to read this soon, before "Apple Legal" gets to the page.

Oh no, not again. (tears)

People killed, injured when tornado touches down in central Alberta

I lived through the horror of Black Friday, July 31, 1987 when 27 people were killed by a tornado in Edmonton. It's absolutely heartbreaking to hear of this happening again. It's too much.

My thoughts and prayers go out to those families devestated by today's disaster.

I won't bother telling you about the lacrosse game I went to tonight, it just doesn't matter.

Re: JS res

Jim, in fairness to your readers, I think you should explain to them that you have five free licenses for Frontier. You have repeatedly made an issue of the price of the software. I think they deserve to know that for you the price is $0.

Hahaha! That was a remarkably enthusiastic missing of Jim's point, Dave. ;-P

He was, of course, not saying that Frontier was too expensive, but that people should pay for it to compensate its creator (that's you!), just as people should pay for music to compensate its creator.

Especially delightful is the "you pay $0", followed immediately by "you're out of the SA program," which means that Jim no longer pays $0. Somehow you've managed the amazing sleight of hand of eating your cake, and still having it. Remarkable.

To my readers

I want to apologize for the ickyness that was yesterday. The enjoyable responsible debate was unfortunately overshadowed by a pissing match, and you were stuck in the middle.

I'm glad that's over now. Thanks for enduring. Hopefully it won't happen again. :-)

Tea: opensource.go.com

opensource.go.com: Go Go.com Go! Tea sounds pretty cool. Must investigate.

I don't get it, yet. I need some real-world samples. It looks so much like ASP or JSP, and I can't stand systems that embed logic directly in HTML. They are bonafide maintenance nightmares. That's why I like WebObjects, the real logic is truly separated from the presentation.
