More about the Toysmart scandal, and 2click webugs

Another article about Toysmart.com selling their customer lists.

DoubleClick doesn't just track family sites anymore -- "...DoubleClick Inc., the most successful Internet advertising agency, was collecting information about our visit to a porn-related site."

Combine that information with your shopping habits at e-commerce sites, tech news sites, and boy have we got a rosy picture popping up!

The French are after Echelon

The French are going after Echelon -- "Echelon, set up during the Cold War, can intercept millions of telephone, fax and e-mail messages, and Washington has been accused of using it for economic espionage against its allies, a charge it denies."

WHAT THE?!

Are we living in an alternate universe? Stan Lee working at DC Comics, doing Superman and Batman???

Actually, that 12 part series sounds really interesting, I might actually get that series. I haven't collected comics in years.

I like the design of seventy-seven. I have a soft spot for designs that have visual depth -- appear to pop out of the screen or sink into it.

AMEX

"Dear JIM ROEPCKE,

To help you start taking advantage of your American Express AIR MILES Credit Card membership, I'd like to bring to your attention a unique savings opportunity available to you - Balance Transfer Cheques."

Wow, thanks American Express! I'd like to transfer ALL of my credit cards to AMEX, since I've never applied for and have never received an American Express card!

This is great, I have four Balance Tranfer Cheques, so I'll be able to pay off all my credit cards using free credit from AMEX! Since I've never applied for a card, I certainly have never agreed to pay off any balances that those cards given to me might incur...

5! more panoramas

Yesterday, Alex and I shot 5 more QTVR panoramas. We've processed 3 of them so far. The ones we're processed are really really beautiful, IMHO. I'll upload them to the panoramas page when I've finished processing all 5.

There will be 2 shots from Saxe Point in Esquimalt (a municipality of Greater Victoria, home of our western naval base), and up to 3 shots of a 90mm anti-aircraft gun from Fort Rodd Hill National Park, a historical military site.

4 new paons uploaded

It must be July, the panos are flowing. ;-P

Alex and I went to a very cool site today, the Kinsol Trestle, one of the largest wooden trestles in Canada! A magnificent sight -- I would have loved to stay there for hours, but we only had time to take 2 QTVR panos.

I've processed the first one, which is now available for download from the QTVR panoramas page. These panos were taken with a better digital camera than previous ones, so it's much larger and sharper. Please check it out, you won't be disappointed!

Also, the 2 panos from Saxe Point, and 1 of the 3 panos of the 90mm AA gun are now available.
